Atsaman is a static editorial site: no account, no cookies, no analytics. This page sets out the little data processed during your visit — including your email address if you subscribe to the newsletter — why, and the rights you have.
Who processes your data
This website is published by ATSAMAN, a non-profit association registered under the French law of 1 July 1901, listed in the national register of associations under number W751278551 and in the SIRENE register under company number (SIREN) 942 582 354, with its registered office at 156 rue du Faubourg Poissonnière, 75010 Paris, France.
The association is the data controller within the meaning of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (“GDPR”) and of French Act No. 78-17 of 6 January 1978 as amended. Director of publication: Anouchka MBIA. No data protection officer has been appointed. For any question about your data: contact@atsamanpublications.com. The full legal notice is part of our terms and conditions.
Our principle: the bare minimum
Atsaman is a static editorial site. There is no user account, no shop and no advertising. The only information you can send us from the site is your email address, if you choose to subscribe to our newsletter. We set no cookies and use no trackers, no analytics and no social sharing widgets — which is why you see no consent banner. Typefaces are served from our own servers rather than from a third-party service.
The data we process
Connection logs. As with any website, loading a page generates technical logs at our host: IP address, date and time of the request, page requested, referring page if any, browser and operating system type.
- Purpose: keeping the site available and secure, detecting and blocking abuse (attacks, malicious bots).
- Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running a safe and functional site (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
- Retention: a limited period, no longer than twelve months. We do not review these logs on an individual basis and do not cross-reference them with any other source.
Images and editorial content. The images on the site are delivered by the content delivery network of our content management system (cdn.sanity.io). When your browser requests them, that network receives your IP address and the associated technical information, for no longer than it takes to display the page. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in delivering the site.
Correspondence. If you write to us, we process the information you send us — name, email address, content of the message — solely in order to reply and to follow up on the exchange. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in answering the people who contact us and, where applicable, the performance of pre-contractual steps. Retention: three years from the last exchange, unless the law requires otherwise.
Newsletter. If you subscribe to our newsletter, we process your email address in order to send you our news. Our provider also records the date, the time and the IP address of the sign-up, which stand as proof of your consent. Legal basis: your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). You may withdraw it at any time, without having to give a reason, through the unsubscribe link in every message we send or by writing to us at contact@atsamanpublications.com. Retention: until you unsubscribe. We use that address for no other purpose.
The signup field is part of our own pages, but the script that makes it work is loaded from sibforms.com only from the moment you interact with the field. Until you do, your visit involves no exchange with our newsletter provider at all. When that load does happen, sibforms.com receives your IP address and the associated technical information.
We carry out no automated decision-making and no profiling.
Who has access to your data
We never sell, rent or trade personal data. The following act as processors on our behalf:
- Cloudflare, Inc. (United States) — hosting of the site and delivery of its pages.
- Sanity AS (Norway) — management of the editorial content and delivery of the images.
- Sendinblue SAS (France), which operates the Brevo service — sending and managing the newsletter.
- The association’s email provider, for correspondence.
Your data may also be disclosed to the competent authorities where the law requires it.
Transfers outside the European Union
Hosting the site may involve transferring data to the United States. Such transfers are governed by the standard contractual clauses adopted by the European Commission and, for Cloudflare, by its certification under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. Norway, as a member of the European Economic Area, applies the GDPR.
Your rights
Under Articles 15 to 22 GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict and object to the processing of your data, the right to data portability, and — under French law — the right to give instructions as to what becomes of your data after your death.
To exercise them, write to us at contact@atsamanpublications.com or by post to ATSAMAN, 156 rue du Faubourg Poissonnière, 75010 Paris, France. We answer within one month; we may ask you for proof of identity where there is reasonable doubt.
If, after contacting us, you believe your rights are not being respected, you may lodge a complaint with the French data protection authority (CNIL), 3 place de Fontenoy, TSA 80715, 75334 Paris Cedex 07 — cnil.fr.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS only. Its pages are published as static files, which greatly reduces the attack surface: no database of visitors is exposed. Access to the content administration interface is restricted to authorised members of the association and protected by authentication.
Links to third-party sites
The site links to stockists, partners, contributors and institutions, as well as to our Instagram account. These links exchange no data with those platforms until you follow them. Once you are on those sites, their own privacy policies apply, over which we have no control.
Minors
The site is aimed at an adult audience and knowingly collects no data relating to people under the age of fifteen. If you become aware that such data has reached us, write to us and we will delete it.
Changes
We may update this policy to reflect changes to the site or to the applicable rules. The version that applies is the one published on this page; the date of the last update appears under the title.
